Call for Workshops, Papers, Panels, Films, Performance, and Visual Art

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: PLEASE POST WIDELY

Femme2012: Pulling the Pieces Together is a multi-threaded conference and forum for those who think about, talk about, and create Femme as a queer gender and identity.

Following our Femme2006, 2008, and 2010 conferences in San Francisco, Chicago, and Oakland, where hundreds of femmes and allies gathered for workshops, panels, films, visual art galleries, and performances, we again invite femmes of all kinds and their allies to continue the conversation by participating in Femme 2012 as presenters and participants. Links to our online submission forms are here.

We are invested in having Femme2012 continue to reflect the diversity and complexity of femme gender, identity, and contributions. We hope for this conference to be a community-building event, as well as an exploration and celebration of what it means to build and live queer femme identities…

Femme Call to Action in January!

This Call to Action invites self-defined queer folks on femme/inine spectrums to get together during the week of Jan 15-21, 2012 to share and generate ideas and information about their work [femme-related and otherwise]; to spark conversations, build alliances, celebrate each other, have fun — and instigate the January launch of the Calls for Performers and Workshop Proposals for the Femme 2012 Conference, taking place in Baltimore Aug 17-19, 2012.

There is a Femme Week of Action toolkit available here with tons of topics, ideas, vision, and event suggestions.

You’re invited to create event[s] that suit the many communities of femmes and femme/inine spectrum folks in your city/town/etc., that allow groups to talk to each other, ask to ally with each other, celebrate and share with each other. The organizers in NYC offer our work for inspiration, and encourage each community to adjust as needed. This toolkit is intended to help make your organizing easier, and not to restrict your ideas or needs. If something else works better — do it!

“Pulling the Pieces Together” August 17th-19th 2012 Baltimore, MD
Femme2012: Pulling the Pieces Together is a multi-threaded conference and forum for those who think about, talk about, and create Femme as a queer gender and identity.

Following our Femme 2006, 2008, and 2010 conferences in San Francisco, Chicago, and Oakland, where hundreds of femmes and allies gathered for workshops, panels, films, visual art galleries, and performances, we again invite femmes of all kinds and their allies to continue the conversation by participating in Femme 2012 as presenters and participants.

Our 2012 event aims to explore how we grow, build, nurture, and align the many pieces of our communities and identities while building femme community and power.

The Femme Conference provides a weekend by, for, and about queer femme-identified people and our allies. Every other year the Femme Conference steering committee co-creates with you, our femme community, an opportunity to hold and experience femme-centered space. Together we bring each other thought-provoking workshops, brilliant keynotes, glittering performances, resource sharing, community building, and so much more.

Join the Femme Collective group on Facebook or visit our website.

Our conferences seeks to explore, discuss, dissect, and support Queer Femme as a transgressive, gender-queer, stand-alone, and empowered identity and provide a space for organizing and activism within Queer communities. We hope to attract people of all genders who are interested in a deeper understanding of Femme identity, culture, and
history as well as Femmes interested in learning, teaching, connecting, and building community geared towards social change.
